Indian Head Massage
Indian Head massage, also known as champissage originates from a hair treatment incorporating massage, frequently used by Indian women to maintain the condition of their beautiful long dark hair and protect against the drying effects of the sun. Natural oils such as olive, coconut almond and henna were massaged into the scalp and pulled through the hair. Herbs and spices were often added to the oils to improve the smell of the oils and to add to the overall therapeutic effect of the treatment.
Indian head massage is a safe, simple and effective therapy that uses a series of massage strokes to treat the areas most vulnerable to stress and tension – namely the upper back, shoulders, head and neck. Its effect is not just physical: it works on an emotional level to calm the spirit, relieve stress, promote relaxation, a better sense of wellbeing and provides relief from aches and pains whilst aiding the growth of healthy hair.
